Chairman’s welcome

It is an honour for me to succeed Seán McCarthy and lead the club for the 2009 / 2110 season as we aspire to building on the achievements both on and off the pitch during the past few seasons. The league successes of 2008 and 2009 have been well documented but the achievements of Neil McSorley, Pat Courtney and the players should not be under estimated in what has become a golden age for Grangevale A.F.C. As a club officer during the past decade it has been memorable to see first hand the transformation in the clubs fortunes. As chairman of Grangevale it is my primary objective to consolidate and continue to build for the future.
This year Kevin Corcoran and Ian Doyle make the debuts on the club committee. As former players, both are very familiar to the Grangevale environment and are welcome additions. Ian has also joined Neil and Pat as part of the management team, in recognition of the deeper resources required to contest the AUL 1 title. Once again Pat O’Sullivan occupies the position of club secretary. Pat has been an integral part of the Grangevale committee for several years and liaises with the AUL throughout the season. Dave O’Sullivan provides continuity as he prepares to serve his fifth year as club treasurer. Grangevale A.F.C. is fortunate to be able to avail of the professional services of a qualified accountant and it is no surprise that the improvement in Grangevale’s finances have coincided with Dave’s term as treasurer.
It is no secret that Grangevale A.F.C. is the best supported club in Cork AUL and hopefully this reputation will continue during 2009 / 2010 season. In particular, we are proud that the Cronin and Williamson families continue to remain the heart of Grangevale A.F.C. after nearly sixty years of service.
Finally, thank you to The Grange Bar, Wao’s Chinese Restaurant and Douglas Credit Union for their generous sponsorship. Resulting from their help and the local support to the clubs fundraising initiatives, Grangevale A.F.C. is in a position face the future with optimism.
Chairman, Grangevale A.F.C.
